The purpose of the government is to ensure our freedom so that we can pursue life, liberty and happiness for ourselves.
And that’s about it….
The government does NOT exist to provide us with healthcare or retirement benefits. It is NOT supposed to run our schools or educate our children, provide us with jobs or tell us to wear a seatbelt. It is NOT supposed to tell us what we should eat or dictate as to what we can or cannot own.
The government is NOT supposed to tell us what to think or say or do. It is NOT supposed to impose ridiculous and petty regulations on every man, woman, child and dog in the country.
The government has NO business determining what its citizens should believe is “politically correct” or not. There should not even BE “politically correct.”
If an individual want to own a gun, she or he should be able to. What the individual wants the gun for is his or her own business.
If a person wants to ride a motorcycle without a wearing helmet, well, by all means. It’s his or her own personal choice.
If an individual wants to start his or her own business, the government should not be imposing ten billion fees, regulations and license requirements on the owner.
The government is NOT responsible for providing a sense of “hope” to its citizens. Individuals create their own hopes and dreams. The government doesn’t “change” things, We the People change things.
God didn’t tell the government to help people, he told people to help people.
If our neighbor needs a hand-up or a hand-out, we can can give it to him. If a neighbor needs a place to stay or food to eat after a storm, fire or earthquake, WE can pitch in to help until he gets back up on his feet again.
The government can’t make anyone happy. Only each individual can make him- or herself happy.
But without the gift of liberty, an individual cannot become the unique person that God created him to be. Without free choice to be and to do, the soul dies.
The government can help us to live by staying out of our lives. And it is up to each of us to be vigilant in keeping it out. We are responsible for our own freedoms. We are the fighters.
WE are in charge of our lives…NOT the government.
